14 Day Appointment Selections

Our 14 day appointment was on May 25th. When we got there we learned with the post May 15th changes, there were more cabinet colors than we knew of previously. For the highest tier (Portfolio Select), there are now the following options:

  • Wyoming Cherry Spice
  • Wyoming Cherry Java (new. Replaced Bordeaux)
  • Rushmore Painted Maple Linen (new)
  • Rushmore Painted Maple Butterscotch Glaze
  • Rushmore Painted Maple Hazelnut Glaze (new)
A combined image of the five different colors from the Timberlake site:

Our SR showed us some Timberlake materials that explained the changes. Bordeaux was removed to differentiate the Wyoming cabinets from the Tahoe (Portfolio) line. Since they were both Bordeaux, I imagine   people who wanted the color were choosing the cheaper option.

Structurally, the cabinets of this tier all have hardwood drawers with dovetail joints, and hidden full-length glides. These are the same features I mentioned in the cabinet post previously. We saw these in the newest model and really liked the quality.

Of course quality comes with a price. Prices (on those I checked) went up $500. Wyoming increased from $3095 to $3595, and Rushmore increased from $4295 to $4795. That's a lot of money. Of course, it should be noted again Rushmore is FULL overlay, which means a lot more hardwood everywhere.

When we learned about Wyoming Cherry Java, we were thrilled. We had wanted a darker cabinet and were going to push for Bordeaux previously. We also didn't want to spend so much for the Rushmore. Also, though my wife and I love the white kitchen look, if we have to sell the house or rent it, white is a color some people might not prefer. Darker cabinets were a safer bet. But most of all, we loved the color of the Java. (Since we signed prior to 15 May) We put in a non-standard request for the Java in the kitchen and master bath. It has since been approved, but we do not have the "finalized pricing" that goes along with a non-standard request.

With cabinets selected, we moved on to countertops. I had received a quote previously for granite and quartz for the kitchen as reference. It ranged from $5,000 to $7,000. So, between saving money by not selecting Rushmore and the cost of doing it later, we decided to do granite in the kitchen.  We chose "Giallo Ornamental". It is a "Tier 2" granite. We wanted to lighten the kitchen and complement the brown tones of the Java.

From there, everything else moved quickly due to the research and planning we had done already.
  • Garage Door Opener:  Removed to save money
  • Jetted Tub: Removed to save money
  • Outlets:  7 extra: Garage (4), Downstairs bedroom Closet (1), Kitchen Island (1), Master Closet (1)
  • Range Gas Hookup
  • Recessed Lights in Kitchen
  • Tahoe Cherry Bordeaux in Guest and Downstairs bath
  • Granite Vanity Top in Owner's Bath (St Cecilia)
  • Premier II Appliances:  Freestanding Range, Microwave, Dishwasher
  • Ceiling Fan Roughins:  8 (MBR, BR2, BR3, BR4, BR5 (office), Bonus, Morning, Family)
  • Pine Stair with Oak Handrail, White Balusters
  • Laundry Tub (Sink) in Garage
  • Floodlight: 1 (over Driveway, next to window for access)
  • Kitchen Cabinets:  Wyoming Cherry Java
  • Kitchen Counter:  Giallo Ornamental (level 2)
  • Master Bath Vanity: Wyoming Cherry Java
  • Fireplace: Black slate
  • Exterior Colors (UAD):
    • Siding: Graphite Gray
    • Brick:  Grand Caramel
    • Shutters:  Black
    • Door:  Fiery Brown
    • Trim:  White

This does not include some options we already had configured, these were only the changes our initial configuration and the permit special. I will list the complete options and colors on a separate page. We focused on items that would be harder to change later, like fan rough ins, plumbing, gas. Then we make the kitchen and master bath nice.

Overall, the 14 day appointment went much more smoothly than we expected. The flooring and bathroom selections would be the next week.

  3. Hello. No the kitchen pictured is not ours, but a good example of what I want ours to look like long term. Our hardwood is a lighter maple with the dark cabinets and lighter granite similar to the picture. We still have to choose and install our backsplash.
